Ajijic Mexico 2013

Collette’s home from Jan 20 to Jan 26, 2013.

We looked after 3 adorable dogs, Julio, Coco and Brandy at Collette’s home in Ajijic, Mexico during the winter of 2013.  This was our very first gig as house/pet sitters.
Collette’s home was easy to love.  A fabulous, custom-built, open-plan house with a pool. It was set up in the hills with a gorgeous view of the town below and glorious, multi-coloured sunsets.  We did have moments, if I’m completely honest, of difficulty in trying to reconcile the opulence against some of the poverty we had witnessed in the town.  We kept telling ourselves, though, that Collette’s lifestyle provided jobs for many.  She had a cleaning team of two women come in twice a week and a gardner the same number of times.  All of this continued during our stay.
Coco, of all the dogs won my heart.  She was intelligent and loveable and I could have stolen her away.  Of course, I did no such thing.  Living at Collette’s house for almost two weeks was a luxurious experience and a great start to our new career as house sitters.
